Who recognises these qualifications?

NVQs are widely recognised by government, education, professional institutes and almost all organisations within the public and private sectors.

Are they available to anyone?

Yes. They are open to anyone regardless of age, background or previous qualifications.

What are the entry requirements?

No formal entry requirements, but participants ideally should be working in teams or cells, though not necessarily in a leadership role, and have a background which will enable them to benefit from the programme.

Are there any exams?

No. Instead, an Assessor will visit you for a series of short assessments. Each assessment lasts about 60–90 minutes. Our Assessors are friendly and supportive. You will also need to prepare some written work that is submitted to your Assessor.

Is there a syllabus?

No. But there is a set of nationally recognised occupational standards for each qualification. To achieve your qualification, your Assessor will need to be sure that you are meeting these standards.

Will I have to attend any training courses?

Not necessarily. But that depends on the results of your initial assessment at the start of the programme. We will then recommend any specific training that you will need.

How much work is required?

Achieving your NVQ should not be onerous. The amount of work will depend on your current skills and performance. We generally recommend that you invest approximately 60 minutes per week working towards achieving your NVQ. Depending on the level, NVQ courses last from 3 to 12 months.

What support is available?

You will be supported by an Assessor who will visit you on several occasions. Between visits, any queries may be emailed to them.

How will I know what I have to do?

We will visit you for an ‘Induction’ session. We will give you supporting documentation and explain exactly what you will need to do.

How long will it take to achieve the qualification?

That will depend on the level of the NVQ. Level 2 NVQs may be completed in 3 months whereas higher levels may take 9 to 12 months.

Can the qualifications be delivered in company?

Yes

What job levels do the qualifications relate to?

All

How will I be assessed?

We keep written work to a minimum and will also visit you in the workplace to observe you and support you.

Is there any written work?

Yes there is some written work but there are no lengthy essays to complete. Most candidates will be required to complete a number of short questions and to write personal statements that describe their activities and achievements in the workplace. You may also supplement this with documents from the workplace that provide additional evidence of your skills and activities.

When can I start?

We can arrange for you to start at any time that suits you.

Can we do this as a group?

Yes. We often work with several candidates from the same organisation. All the assessments are undertaken individually, so you can still retain high service levels.

Do you offer any discounts for training groups of employees?

Wherever possible we will secure government funding for our courses. For some of our courses, our fees are tailored dependant upon the group size. Please contact our team on 01604 745730 to discuss this further.

Can you help me to decide which course is right for my employees?

Yes, our team are available Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm. A dedicated member of the team will be pleased to discuss your requirements and answer your questions and arrange an appointment to come out and see you.

How long will it take to organise the training?

Setting up training for your employees couldn't be easier. If you require a bespoke training package then please do not hesitate to contact us. It will be necessary for us to arrange to visit you, so that we can identify the training solutions for your business and decide what training would best suit your needs.

What Progression do these NVQs offer?

Students can progress onto an NVQ Level 3 qualification or other Level 2/3 vocational qualifications.
